Yosemite Valley CampgroundsThe Wawona Hotel is closed indefinitely for structure assessment.
The Wawona Campground is located along the South Fork Merced River close to historic Wawona. At an elevation of 4,000 feet (1,219 m), the campground is located in the southern end of the park, 27 miles and approximately 45 minutes from Yosemite Valley. The majestic Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias is just a short drive away and the Yosemite History Center is in nearby Wawona where you can see some of the park’s oldest structures. Wawona offers a visitor center, hotel (closed indefinitely), and a market.
Wawona Campground Info• White Wolf Campground will not open in 2025 due to sewer issues.
• Tuolumne Meadows Campground's major rehabilitation project is nearly complete; the campground is planned to reopen in 2025.
• Campgrounds in Northern Yosemite usually open in mid-summer, depending on the weather. Due to higher elevation off the Tioga Road, there is still snow in June. The roads must be plowed for your safety. Check the Northern Yosemite Campsites or the Recreation.gov for Yosemite website for the following campgrounds:
Hodgkin Meadows, Tamarack Flat, Crane Flat, Yosemite Creek and Porcupine Flat.
If you're not able to get a camping reservation in the park, then consider staying nearby outside the park.
